Summertime in Summit County means it’s time to hit the lake and soak in the sun while enjoying a day on the water. Dillon Reservoir is the perfect place to take in the mountain scenery from a boat, the shore or the bar at the marina.
Dillon Reservoir, sometimes called Lake Dillon, is a hot spot during the summer months for all kinds of watersport enthusiasts including fisherman, kayakers, canoeists, sailors, paddleboarders, and motor boaters. The Frisco Bay Marina is just across the street from Downtown Frisco making it a great place to explore after you cruise main street and check out all the great shops on the Main Street of the Rockies. The marina also offers rentals on all kinds of watercrafts. You can also enjoy a lakeside dinner or drink at the Island Grill.
The Frisco Bay Marina also offers guided tours of the lake and lessons for those who would like a little direction before they consider themselves sea worthy. You can get lessons in sailing, paddle boats, kayaks, stand up paddle boards, and fishing.
One of the favorite activities among locals is to take the water taxi from the Frisco Bay Marina across the lake to the Dillon Marina. Grab a drink in Frisco and then hop on the water taxi to go grab a drink at the Dillon Marina and enjoy a nice ride on a boat in the meantime.
Still don’t have your sea legs? There’s a paved bike trail that circles the lake that is a perfect place for a walk or bike ride. There are also tons of hiking trails around the lake that make for a great day hike and some even have incredible views!
