The Perfect Frisco Weekend

Are you heading up to Frisco to beat the heat for the weekend? Wondering what to do with your time in the Rocky Mountains? Here’s a local’s guide to experiencing the best of Frisco in 48-hours.

Check-in

After you’ve booked your favorite Frisco Rental, head up the hill and check into your place and drop your bags. Before you head out for the night, make sure you look your best because Frisco has an excellent nightlife scene. Once you’re feeling fresh head out the door and head downtown.

Head Out

While Frisco has a ton of options for drinks and dining, a lot of locals hit the brewery scene on Fridays. One of the newest in town is Highside Brewing. They even have live music on Fridays, so you’ll get to enjoy a funky microbrew with some sweet tunes to match! If you’re in the mood for barbecue, you’re in luck because Highside has the best barbecue in town. If barbecue isn’t what you’re feeling, head out and walk downtown where you’ll find a plethora of other options.

Catch a Show

There’s tons of live music in Frisco during the summer. You can catch live music at any number of the bars downtown, or you can check out the new 10 Mile Music Hall. Just finished recently, the 10 Mile Music Hall is Frisco’s newest music venue and has shows every night from Wednesday through Saturday. It’s a great venue that is small enough to make the show intimate, but big enough to host some great musicians.

Hit the Hay

Don’t stay out too late on your first night in town, you don’t want to be too exhausted for your big adventure day tomorrow.

Early Bird gets the Worm

After a good night’s rest, it’s time to rise and shine so you don’t miss out on any of the fun. For breakfast, grab something quick and save the brunch date for Sunday. One of our favorite places to grab some breakfast grub is Butterhorn Bakery, where you can grab a quick baked good like a danish or you can grab a burrito.

Lake Life in the Mountains

Morning is the best time for two activities. The first is to head out on the lake before the motorboats do. Stand Up Paddle boarding is the new popular way to explore the reservoir, or you can rent a canoe or kayak to paddle your way around. The reason you want to get out early on the water is because the water is like glass early in the morning and being surrounded by the mountains when the water is like this reflects the views giving you double the Rocky Mountain experience. You can rent all sorts of water crafts, including sail and pontoon boats if you prefer something a little larger, from the Frisco Bay Marina

Lunch Time

After you’ve spent the morning exploring Dillon Reservoir, it’s time to refuel before you head out for more adventures. For lunch, one of our favorite places is Ein Prosit, an authentic Bavarian beer hall in Downtown Frisco. You can get a great german beer with your favorite schnitzel or a wonderful sausage, after all, it is your vacation. Looking for something a little lighter? Whole Foods is a great place to grab a deli sandwich.

Hop on a Bike

Now it’s time for some real fun! One of the local’s favorite things to do is to ride the paved river trail to the top of Vail Pass. It’s a truly stunning experience that you won’t want to miss. There are a ton of ways to ride this, even if you aren’t the strongest rider. The first option is to just rent a bike and hit the trail. Rebel Sports is located downtown and you can ride a bike right from their shop to the trail. You can even rent a new E-Bike from them! E-Biking is a great way to ride a bike without so much effort. Or you can ride the Vail Pass Shuttle, which will shuttle you and your bike to the top of the pass so you can just cruise the downhill all the way back to town as you take in the breathtaking views and blow past wildflowers, streams, and ponds. This is a truly unique way to experience the Rocky Mountains and something that is not to be missed!

Happy Hour

After your bike ride, keep the fun going and go grab some drinks and snacks! A local’s favorite for Happy hour is Kimosabe Sushi. You can get great drinks as well as reasonably priced sushi rolls to reward yourself for a day filled with adventure.

Hot Date Night

Now it’s really time to enjoy vacation. Take your significant other or yourself out to a fancy dinner. 5th Avenue Grill is a great spot or Frisco Prime are great places to get a steak dinner. After such an adventurous day topped off with a decadent dinner, you’re probably ready to catch some ZZZZ’s.

Brunch Before Departure

Before you leave to head home after a fun filled weekend, take the time to enjoy brunch before you leave. Bread+Salt is our favorite place to enjoy eggs Benedict or French toast. Don’t be in too much of a rush, because you’ve got one more thing to do before heading home.

See the Wildflowers

Take the time to squeeze in one more fun activity before you hit the road. You can even enjoy this one after a mimosa or two. Go hit the trail for a short hike to take in the views and to see the wildflowers. One of our favorite trails to hike before hitting the road is the Ten Mile Creek Trail. The nice thing is once you’ve hiked your preferred distance just head back to car and hop on the highway!
