Not only is spring in Summit County great for skiing and other outdoor activities, it’s also one of the best times of the year for events! A few of our favorite events are coming up in March and April, so we’re going to tell you why you need to be here (although you won’t need much convincing).
Breckenridge Spring Fever
When: March 18 – April 23rd
You don’t want to miss this month-long festival! Spring Fever is made to celebrate everything about this wonderful time of year with great bands, exciting competitions and incredible bluebird days! Spring Fever will take place both on the mountain and in town, and you’re going to love the big name bands up on the Peak 8 stage. On April 9th, Michael Franti & Spearhead will be headlining this year’s concert series! Their unique combination of R&B, hip hop, reggae and poetry make their music something you’ll remember. Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real will be the April 16 concert, and their “beach-hippy” vibe is the perfect way to celebrate spring. Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue will be finishing up the concert series on April 17 with yet another great show. After the concerts, our next favorite part of this event is the Breckenridge Spring Fever Beer Festival. More than 35 breweries will be on Ridge Street sampling their specialty brews and some delicious food! Other things you don’t want to miss include the GoPro Big Mountain Challenge, the Spring Fever Park Jam and the Breck Beer & Chili Cookoff.
Copper Mountain’s Sunsation
When: Saturday, April 16
Come out to Copper Mountain with us to celebrate closing weekend with live music, Dos Equis and lots of springtime fun to go around! Sunsation is the celebration of everything spring, and the Eenie Weenie Bikini Contest will prove that everyone here takes that very seriously. Start the day out with Red Bull Slopesoakers, a crazy twist on the traditional pond-skim, and watch contestants creatively make it across floating rails. The Eenie Weenie Bikini contest will be later in the day and is one of the most unique events you’ll see as you watch contestants strut their stuff down the mountain in bikinis and other funny summertime costumes. We aren’t sure who the bands will be yet, but we know Copper will surprise us with someone great!
Keystone Closing Day & Slush Cup
When: Sunday, April 10
A closing day tradition, the Slush Cup is a free and exciting event to participate in or watch from the Mountain House Base Area! Join us to watch contestants skim across the pond for a chance to win prizes and more important, bragging rights. Prize categories include: best costume, best crash and best overall. There are also additional crowd prizes and giveaways that you don’t want to miss! Better yet, you get to enjoy live music from The Beloved Invaders.
