Celebrating the 4th of July in Summit County

Written by Will Lancaster

Everyone has their own way of showing their patriotism and celebrating Independence Day. I wanted to share the things that I believe make a Summit County 4th of July the best. I love celebrating the 4th in Summit County for many reasons. In 1895, Katharine Lee Bates wrote America the Beautiful. One line has always stuck out to me: “For purple mountain majesties, Above the fruited plain!” This is a reference to the shade of the Rocky Mountains. This county is steeped in history and camaraderie, making for a fun, intimate and remarkable Independence Day!

Top Five Reasons to Celebrate 4th of July in Summit County

  1. There are multiple fireworks locations in the county.

  2. Events vary from a morning trail run, a fishing derby, a garden party, parades and live music.

  3. The view of the Frisco fireworks from the top of Mt. Royal, a short 45 minute hike, is second to none.

  4. Summer weather in the Rockies is some of the most desirable weather in the country.

  5. The free bus system will get you home safely if you end up having too much fun.
