Planning a trip to the mountains can be overwhelming. Even after you figure out where to stay, you’re still stuck wondering “What’s going on while I’m there?” and “What should I do besides ski?” Lucky for you, you aren’t the first one to wonder these things.
There are new apps coming out regularly that can help you answer all of your questions about your trip to the mountains. We’re going to tell you about a few of them — and provide links to download them — because trip planning doesn’t need to be overwhelming!
Not surprisingly, our favorite is our Summit Mountain Rentals app. Not only can you find everything you need about staying with us, it’s also a great informational app even if you aren’t staying with us! You can find information about activities in Breckenridge and Frisco, restaurants, events, rentals, concierge services, etc. There is really nothing you can’t find on our app — we’re here to help you plan before and during your trip!
Are you heading out to ski/ride at one of the Vail resorts? Don’t forget to check snow conditions, view webs cams, trail maps and more from the EpicMix mobile app. EpicMix is available for 10 resorts: Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, Keystone, Park City, Heavenly, Northstar, Kirkwood, Afton Alps and Mt. Brighton. It allows you to track your vertical feet, earn pins, download high resolution photos, and share your own photos with EpicMix Photo! One of our favorite parts about this app is that it lets you compare lift line wait times. Does it get much better than that?
If you know you’re going to Copper Mountain while you’re here, then you need to download the Sherpa app. Sherpa lets you track your runs, speed, vertical feet covered, and your whole day on the mountain. You can also find any information about Copper Mountain that you’re looking for, including trail maps, coupons, snow reports and weather. Sherpa, your on-mountain guide, also has a whole slew of features that allows you to drop audibles across the resort for others to hear. You can then listen for audibles that other people have dropped, so don’t forget to bring your headphones and activate Sherpa while you’re on the mountain!
In order to make the best of your days on the mountain, you’re going to want to download the OpenSnow app. OpenSnow is run by local forecasters who specialize in telling you how many inches of snow to expect each day at each resort. If you want to ski at multiple resorts in Summit County, this is the app for you! You can compare your favorite resorts on one screen and decide which one to visit based on snow predictions and reports.
If you’re planning on visiting Breckenridge, the GoBreck app helps you learn what to do and where to go while you’re there — as a visitor or a local! You can find discounts/deals, special event details, shopping, lodging and restaurant options, and more. You can also find road, snow and weather reports along with local maps. This app is a must-have for a trip to Breckenridge!
The last app that we recommend has complete ski resort guides to all your favorite resorts: the ResortApp. Not only does it give you interactive trail maps, but it has a Friends and Family Locator to help you keep track of your fellow travelers! (Let’s be honest: we all have that one person we tend to lose on the mountain.) ResortApp also helps you locate rental and tuning shops, as well as check real-time parking availability. It provides users with a free, fun and informative way to explore the ski resorts of your choice!
If these apps aren’t enough, don’t forget these information centers to help you familiarize yourself with everything there is to do and see: the Frisco/Copper Information Center in Frisco and the Breckenridge Welcome Center on Main Street in Breckenridge. And if you don’t find the info you’re looking for, don’t hesitate to call us at 970.453.7370 or shoot us an email. We’re always here to help!
