Snow artists from around the world will compete Jan. 22-26, 2018, in Breckenridge at the International Snow Sculpture Championships Presented by your Hometown Toyota Stores. Sculptures, which will remain on display through Jan. 29, 2018, start as 12-foot-tall, 20+ ton blocks of snow. Teams from all over the world will compete and using only hand tools, artists achieve finished pieces across five days (65 hours) of sculpting in this one of a kind event.

January 16 - 21, 2018 Technical Week - Watch how the blocks are built or even volunteer to help by calling Sydney Schwab, 970-453-5020 or email sydneys@gobreck.com. The enormous blocks of snow are built in anticipation of the artists arrival so that the blocks have time to settle and compact under their own weight prior to being carved.  This allows for a more consistent medium, giving the sculptors the ability to execute their gravity-defying designs.

January 22- 26, 2018 Sculpting Week - Sculpting begins at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 22nd with a gun shot start and sculpting ends on Friday, January 26 at 10:00 a.m. The awards ceremony will be on Friday, January 26, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 25th is one of the best times to visit. Artists are preparing to stay up all night to do detail work and the atmosphere is celebratory. Why not spend a night or two and catch the whole weekend? You won't regret seeing the sculptures evolve and witnessing the awards given out.

January 27, 2018 Junior Snow Sculpture- Imagination comes to life through the magic of snow, and little hands. The Main Street Station Junior Snow Sculpture event is open to children, ages nine and up on Saturday, January 27th to help kick-off the Breckenridge International Snow Sculpting viewing. This year’s theme will focus on animals. Young participants will use the same type of snow that the big competitors use, and will learn the basics of snow sculpting in an enjoyable environment. Instruction will be led by one of Breckenridge’s own artists and sculpting extraordinaire, Mauricio Meneses. Participation is free and open to all kids!

January 25 to January 29, 2018 Viewing Weekend - (Please note that visitors are welcome to the event anytime from January 22 to January 29).
