Fourth of July in the High Country

The percussion from the blasts reverberates throughout the mountain valley, bouncing and amplifying off the steep slopes of the surrounding mountain ranges. You can feel the vibration rattle through your chest as the sky is lit up by the flying pyrotechnics with dazzling dashes of red, white, blue, purple, and green. The mountain sides glow, highlighting the snow-capped peaks, and the lake below the brightly colored display reflects the colors like a mirror. Your family stares in awe as the show goes on and slowly builds to a crescendo with streaks of bright white slowly glimmering to the ground. A stark silence settles into the valley as you stare at the dark sky with the distinctive smell of gunpowder wafting around you as you wonder if the show has ended. A bright flash from across the lake grabs your attention as it shoots skyward followed by numerous streaks. This is it, the finale.
